The Journey of E-Waste: From Drop-Off to Renewal
Oct. 17, 2025
Turning Curiosity into Clarity: A Collaborative Video Initiative
In response to growing public curiosity about what happens to e-waste once it’s dropped off, our team partnered with one of our trusted recyclers to produce an educational video that visually captures the complete journey of e-waste recycling—from drop-off to resource recovery. The goal was simple yet powerful: to demystify the recycling process and raise awareness about the importance of responsible disposal under the National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme (NTCRS). Designed for the general public, the video was distributed externally via our website, social media channels, and a major electrical retailer’s platform.
Behind the Scenes: A Seamless Collaboration
The generosity of our recycling network was instrumental in bringing this project to life. Our partner opened their doors, providing full access to their team and facilities. Every step of the process was captured on film—from initial sorting and manual disassembly to mechanical shredding and final resource recovery. Their staff played a critical role in the production, and we are deeply grateful for their time, support, and commitment.
Our team led the filming and production, working closely with the recycler to ensure a smooth and respectful process. Thanks to their professionalism and openness, the collaboration was seamless and highly effective.
The Journey of E-waste: From Disposal to Renewal
The video takes viewers through the entire lifecycle of e-waste recycling. It begins with drop-off at participating stores, followed by transport to recycling facilities where items are weighed and sorted. Skilled workers then manually disassemble components, which are further processed through mechanical shredding and separation. Valuable materials are recovered and repurposed into new products, reinforcing the principles of a circular economy.
Impact and Reception
The video has been favourably received, resonating with audiences and successfully fulfilling its key objective—educating and engaging the public. It has helped bridge the knowledge gap around e-waste recycling and reinforced our commitment to sustainability, transparency, and community education.
Looking Ahead
This initiative reflects our ongoing dedication to environmental education and responsible recycling. By making the invisible visible, we empower communities to make informed choices and contribute to a more sustainable future.
