Q: What type of EPS can I recycle through Ecycle Solutions?

A: We accept 100% white, clean, and uncontaminated EPS packaging. This includes items such as polystyrene used to protect appliances, electronics, and furniture during shipping.

Q: What is not accepted in EPS recycling?

A: Please do not place the following in your EPS collection bags or bins:

    1. Coloured polystyrene (e.g. grey, black)
    2. EPS contaminated with food, dirt, tape, or stickers
    3. Foam meat trays, cups, or packaging peanuts
    4. EPS that’s wet or broken into fine pieces

These items contaminate the recycling process and may result in entire bags being rejected.

Q: Why does my EPS need to be clean and dry?

A: Clean and dry EPS is essential to maintain the quality of recycled material. Contaminated or wet EPS slows down processing and can damage recycling equipment. It also reduces the potential for the material to be repurposed into useful products like picture frames, skirting boards, and construction materials.

Q: Where does the recycled EPS go?

A: Once collected, the EPS is compacted and transported to specialised recycling facilities. There, it’s transformed into durable products such as building materials, stationery, and injection-moulded items—giving your waste a second life and keeping it out of landfill.

Q: Do you offer collection services for EPS?

A: Yes, we do offer EPS collection services for businesses and retail partners.

To help us assess your needs and confirm we can service your location, we ask that all enquiries be submitted through our online form. This allows us to review your site details and ensure the most efficient service before getting in touch.

Q: How should I prepare my EPS before recycling?

A: Please ensure your EPS is:

    1. 100% white
    2. Free from contamination (no tape, cardboard, or labels)
    3. Dry

This helps us recycle it efficiently and effectively.

Q: What is EPS recycling, and why is it important?

A: Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) is a lightweight packaging material often used to protect fragile goods like electronics. However, its bulky nature can lead to high disposal costs and unnecessary landfill waste. Recycling EPS helps reduce your business’s environmental footprint, supports a circular economy, and can be more cost-effective than landfill disposal.

Q: How does Ecycle Solutions’ EPS recycling service work?

A: We make EPS recycling simple for businesses. We provide a free frame and specialised bags to store clean EPS. Once full, you can book a collection through our secure online system—available 24/7—or our Customer Service team can schedule regular pickups to suit your needs. Leveraging the QLS Group’s national logistics network, we service most locations across Australia, including regional areas.

Q: What happens to the EPS after it’s collected?

A: Collected EPS is processed at one of our specialised facilities in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, or Perth. Using advanced ‘hot melt’ extrusion technology, the EPS is compacted and turned into reusable materials that are repurposed into products like picture frames, decking, skirting boards, and synthetic timber.

Q: What are the EPS bag and frame specifications?

A: Our EPS bags hold approximately 2 cubic metres (2m³) of polystyrene. Bags are supplied in bundles of five, with a minimum first order of 10 bags. Each setup includes a free frame to make filling easier, measuring 1.45m tall x 1.3m wide x 1.3m deep.

Q: How can I start using this service?

A: You can activate our EPS recycling service by submitting an online enquiry (recommended) so we can review your site and confirm access.
